Why the ‘’Grand Turc’’ name for a hotel in the center of the Bocage in Vendee ? The story is writen on an old parchement which is always visible in the hotel. In fact, in 1808, the hostel named ‘’l’Oie Grasse’’, changed its name in the ‘’Grand Turc’’ due to the visit of Napoleon the first and his general of the guard Mameluk Amaduc a Turkish chief.
